HTC Touch Pro vs. iPhone – Text Battle!
Our lovely new HTC Touch Pro has been put through its paces all afternoon, and one of the most exciting things about it is the nice 5-row QWERTY keyboard! It’s nice, but is it better for texting than the current undisputed champ of the Apple iPhone?
All mobile lovers want to know who will win the battle of the touchscreen and tactile titans… And if you can’t see our stock text clearly enough in the vid, it went as follows:-

The results of our highly scientific tests may shock you, but probably not.
14 seconds…I admit to being the official text athlete for the iPhone, and I apologise for the shocking performance! If I didn’t fluff the first line, I would have bested the Touch Pro with ease! Truth is still that the Touch Pro’s keyboard is a far more enjoyable experience when it comes to typing than the iPhone’s monolithic display.
More serious vids of the interface, texting and the keyboard, and a review to follow once we’ve calmed down a bit…
P.S. Yes…we know that it wasn’t quite an iPhone 3G in the battle, just forgot to amend it as the owner had disappeared when it was time to text!
iPhones are for losers….
This test, while fun, isn’t very fair.
Whomever was typing on the Touch Pro is a seriously slow typist, probably from lack of exposure to the new keyboard. While at the same time, the iPhone user is a self-proclaimed “iPhone text athlete.”
Now, On my HTC Apache (which I also claim to be a text athlete) I was able to type that same text (with zero errors) in 1:04:6. This is an improvement 28 seconds over the Touch Pro typist which means this text could be typed 42 seconds faster on HTC Apache by people of equal skill.
I can only imagine how must faster my performance would’ve been if I had the 5 key layout with proper shift keys of the HTC Touch Pro

I’d already declared this week I wanted a HTC Touch Pro and everyone ignored me and said “No you want the iPhone 3G”……..

I echo veo_’s sentiments. I just gave that a test run on my HTC Tytn (T Mobile Vario II) and smashed that time; came in at 1:02 (and I made stupid errors on the numbers which I had to correct).
Nothing beats a hardware keyboard!

HTC Touch pro poo’s on the iPhone so badly…iphones suck…they dont have a keyboard, copy and paste, turn by turn navigation…and more so yea iPhones suck 1…i have an HTC Touch pro and my bestfriend has an iPhone i choose mine over his any day. Btw i did this on my phone
