Top 10 Free iPhone Games Of 2008!
Whether you are broke or have a bank error in your favour, the Apple iPhone 3G has a lineup of awesome games to download from the App Store!
Apple, justifiably proud of turning the entire mobile games business on its head and leaving competitor closures and job cuts in their wake, has released a list of the most downloaded free iPhone games.
There are a fair few games that we love up there! Anyway, here is the run-down of the Top 10 Free iPhone Games of 2008!
Free Games
10. reMovem
If you like playing with balls or just tapping them, this is the game for you! Puzzlers are made to be used with a touchscreen (the Nintendo DS is proof positive of that!), and the iPhone excels at it with reMovem.
Customer Review: Robet76 – “Can’t complain about this much as it’s free…it’s a bit basic but it’s fun and passes the time when you only have a few minutes spare. And it’s easy to play.”

9. Sudoku
Despite sharing its name with my famous mother Sue Doku (true story), the Japanese number puzzle game remains even more popular than her amongst bored pen-and-paperless commuters the world over.
Customer Review: jo bunny – “addicted to sudoku and saving trees by using it on the iPhone…brilliant!”

8. Audi A4 Driving Challenge
Popular? Yes. Good? Not so much… This glorified ad for Audi features a ‘game’ in which you glide a super-sensitive top-down representation of an A4 over what can only be a frozen jelly lake. Turn iPhone like a steering wheel to drive, then throw iPhone out of window!
“This game is for entertainment purposes only and does not replicate actual driving experiences.” Never has a truer disclaimer been written. Except they forgot the entertainment, and replaced it with badness.
Customer Review: edwilde – “Are audi a4′s really that horrible to drive?”

7. Cannon Challenge
A classic in the vein vintage Amiga game Tanx, fire your missiles like mortars into the air to decimate your enemy with angles and elevation. Very tactical.
Customer Review: funkyellowmonkey – “Amazing take on a great game, think worms but with tanks ‘n cannons! Warning: Very addictive!”

6. Touch Hockey: FS5
Air hockey. Except on a phone. Two player local and wireless support, 60 frames a second, slow motion replays. You won’t even miss the fact that they closed down your local Laser Tag place where you played air hockey all day, it’s that good.
Customer Review: Ricky – “It is amazing I love it almost like playing real airhockey.”

5. Pac-Man Lite
Pac-Man. Except with no joystick and a fiddly touch interface in its place. Silly, and almost impossible to avoid those militant ghosts…just like in real life. Also a demo, the full deal is £3.49. Ouch.
Customer Review: CrocStock – Having the nerve to even charge that amount for a basic port is pretty shallow for anyone. It plays like any other Pa-Man, but the controls will deter even the most die hard Pac-Man fan…”

4. iBowl
Love Bowling on the Nintendo Wii? Yeah, this is nothing like it. Uses the accelerometer, and amplifies the problem of swinging a piece of technology as though it is a bowling ball by being on a format which is unattached to your wrist. Seen WiiHaveAProblem.com? This is worse. And brilliant!
Customer Review: Sophiie..x – “I’m finding it particularly annoying and my iPhone has been flying about the room everytime I play also it crashes alot aswell.”

3. Sol Free Solitaire
Over one million downloaders can’t be wrong! The free Solitaire game is welcome to those legions of Windows users addicted to the card game, aligning Hearts and Diamonds when they should have been compiling fiscal reports or whatever business folks do all day.
Customer Review: Neonstar – “Solitaire is one of those games that is so common and basic, yet so highly addictive! This is an amazing app, 10/10, and now with the updates it’s perfect.”

2. Labyrinth Lite Edition
Tilty support ahoy for the classic ball-in-a-hole game, remade for cutting edge tech! Extremely sensitive in a good way, Labyrinth is exactly the kind of game that took advantage of the iPhone and made it something new in gaming as opposed to the home of a thousand gimmicky vanity projects. Excellent.
Customer Review: kwikiboey – “Why are apps so good?”

1. Tap Tap Revenge
The App that started it all. Originally a title for jailbroken iPhones, Tap Tap Revenge has since been bought over, and became one of the first titles to grace the App Store! This rhythm action game typifies the kind of next-gen game that could only be done on iPhone, and has players tapping the screen in time to the music playing, in a manner very similar to Guitar Hero. With a wealth of music, big name artists on board as well as great original content, the only question is when will people have to pay for the App Store’s posterboy?
Check out this Tap Tap Revenge review to see just how awesome it is! Then download it!
