T-Mobile UK: HTC Desire Available From March 26th
According to a post on their official Twitter page, T-Mobile UK will be selling the HTC Desire in their stores from the 26th of March.
Contrary to HTC’s announcement at Mobile World Congress, the magenta network will be jumping ahead of the touted April availability date and sneaking a quick release behind the bike sheds with what is shaping up to be this year’s hottest device.
Set to be made available on all networks and retailers, the Desire is 3.7 inches of capacitive touchscreen, bleeding edge Android software garnished with HTC’s proprietary Sense UI and a side order of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Almost mirroring Google’s Nexus One in form and feature set, the HTC Desire swaps the trackball for an optical trackpad, adds physical keys and a shoves a tiny bit more oomph under the bonnet (572 as opposed to the 512MB of RAM in the Nexus One).
Orange has already announced that they will be stocking the device from April 2010, with the device to be free on certain price plans.
Francois Mahieu, Director of Devices for Orange UK said, “We’re really pleased to be working with HTC to bring the latest Android 2.1 device to market. The Desire is a truly powerful handset which will allow consumers to get to grips with all the things they love about the internet.”
HTC’s executive director for UK and Ireland, Jon French, recently revealed hopes to synchronise the Desire’s launch with that of the Android-powered, Vodafone exclusive Legend.
