Omio has discovered an image on a teaser website, showing the rear of its purportedly named Sony Xperia Z1/Sony Xperia i1 Honami, thought to sport a 20-megapixel camera and confirming the phone will include the Lens G.
The company has recently posted a number of images to both Twitter and Facebook, teasing it its soon-to-be-announced mobile – believed to be unveiled at Berlin’s IFA consumer electronics show.
The first image (at the end of this piece), has the text teasing: “It’s the smartphone everyone’s been talking about… not long now”.
That shows an image of the traditional Sony power button, alongside the end of the volume button.
The next pic was accompanied with the wording – “About to make a splash…”. – where it can be seen being dropped in water.
That indicates the new handset will also have the waterproof and dustproof protection of the Sony Xperia X and Xperia Z Ultra phablet.
This is supported by the hashtag used in both posts: #bestofSony, which furthermore, hints that elements are to be included from its other ranges.
Omio has spotted a Facebook teaser microsite, which also carries those images.
We dug a little deeper on that site, to undercover another image that either hasn’t been released yet, or has been held back, as it would be revealed the Lens G, which has been rumoured to feature in the new phone.
This is said to be on par with the best lenses in the industry and will complement the image sensor and processing engine, according to an earlier leak.
