Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Panels Hacked To Work On X1, Instruction Manual Available Online
It seems those Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 users miffed about being stranded as Windows Mobile 6.5 sails away might have the last laugh, as one intrepid user on XDADevelopers have managed to get ahold of the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 ‘panels’ and retrofit them onto his humble handset!
The slick ‘Tilewave’ panel presenting the time, contacts and messages on an ever-undulating 3D surface was one of the most visually arresting features when we had our early look at the XPERIA X2, and this video shows that XPERIA X1 users are able to, with a little effort, install that and more to their devices.
Watch below to see XGundamBoy rocking Tilewave features including weather and RSS feeds, all on a mysteriously WinMo 6.5-powered XPERIA X1.
Whilst it seems like there is no official upgrade to Microsoft’s latest software for the portly X1, the files are there if you know where to look…

Eager to please ahead of an exclusive release on Vodafone, the official user guide for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 has appeared in PDF form on the internet.
The Windows Mobile 6.5 phone is broken down like a fraction, from the revamped interface to the improved QWERTY keyboard and cool pixel art-inspired Panel.
Download the XPERIA X2 instruction manual from here.
The X2 slims down the form factor, and bulks up the specs with an 8.1MP camera and faster processor, making it a good first foray into Sony Ericsson’s adaptation of Windows Mobile, but perhaps not enough of a departure for those upgrading from the XPERIA X1.
Check out our Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 deals from next week, there’s not much of November left for Vodafone’s vaunted release date!
