Retro Gaming iPhone Docks: A Worrying Trend

megadrive-26

As a child born in the shadow of the 1-Up mushroom, I love to see 80s gaming memorabilia being given a second shot at the spotlight with an elaborate modding job, but I can’t help but get a sense that things may have gotten a little…lazy.

To turn a gutted Sega Megadrive into a fully working dock for the Apple iPhone takes a little time, effort and more than a modicum of know-how, and the result is somehow right.

As Nintendo fanboy, I was far more excited to hear that someone had done the same with a copy of the seminal classic Duck Hunt on the NES…turns out I needn’t have gotten too excited.

File under: Ghetto modding. The cable trailing out is a particularly half-assed touch, I think you’ll agree.

If the idea of finding a copy of Duck Hunt and cutting a hole in it is beyond you, then pick this up at GeekUnique’s Etsy store for $24.95.
