Nokia N900 Pay Monthly Prices Leak Early? – UPDATE

The Nokia N900 might be a whole lot cheaper on the networks than previously anticipated, if early deals from BuyMobilePhones are accurate.

We’ve just seen over 100 new Nokia N900 deals enter our database, and the Maemo-powered flagship device is a good deal cheaper than we had anticipated…

Their Orange and O2 deals are far nearer feature phone territory, the most popular currently being a 24 month deal offering 600 minutes and 500 texts for a mere £30 per month!

The N900 handset itself costs an extra £9.99, but that’s a small price to shell out for a powerful mobile computer with 32GB of internal storage, a fully featured web browser, 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera and DVD quality video recorder.

The range of O2 deals are all within the same ballpark, with £40 per month netting you a free handset and 3 months half price line rental with the above minutes and texts, with Orange deals not far off the same alluring price point.

With getting the Orange iPhone proving to be a disappointingly similar prospect to purchasing one on O2, it seems like Nokia are changing the rules with a hugely competitive price point for their super smart phone.

However, the N900 is currently out of stock on the Buy Mobile Phones website, we are attempting to reach them for confirmation as to whether these are indeed available rather than wishful thinking or a feed issue akin to the N97 Mini pricing leak…

The Nokia N900 currently retails for £499 on the Nokia site, with a provisional SIM-free release date of the week commencing 16th November.

UPDATE: The word from Orange is that they will not be stocking the Nokia N900 themselves, with “no plans to launch it at this time – if we do at all.”

In which case, these deals from BuyMobilePhones are likely to be a standard Orange SIM only package bundled with a subsidised, unlocked handset, rather than Orange’s own doing.

Whilst you may be in for a long wait if you’re looking to buy an N900 from Orange directly, these competitive third-party retailer prices mean Nokia’s super-computer is set to be within reach of the average consumer…
