MWC 2010: HTC Planning April 1st Release For Legend And Desire
HTC are aiming to get their latest handsets, the Android-powered Desire and Legend, into UK stores for an April 1st double whammy release.
The HTC Legend – an exclusive to Vodafone - will launch with a heavy advertising push, particular focus being placed on the beautifully carved metal chassis and improved Sense user interface. Pay monthly deals will see a handset available for free on £30 per month tariffs.
The HTC Desire is set for huge success, being ranged for sale on all major networks and retailers, and will be free from around £35 per month.
The source of a lot of attention due to the almost identical specifications to the Nexus One (also manufactured by HTC), the Desire will benefit from key differentiators including the addition of the Sense user interface to vanilla Android 2.1, whilst the cheaper price and relative ease of availability against Google’s web-only offering are sure to drive sales.
“The immediate choice of beauty and power [in Legend and Desire] will make for a great driver at launch,” said Jon French, HTC’s Executive Director for UK and Ireland.
