Google owned company Motorola has recently unveiled its highly affordable mid-range Android mobile phone, the Moto G, with elements taken from its North American Moto X sibling – such as its design, software and customisation – where it is now available to buy.
Omio is now rounding up where you can get the mobile phone, with its best deals, prices and extras.
This is on a phone that has a 4.5-inch HD 1,280 x 720 LCD screen (329ppi), where it’s powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8 or 16GB amounts of internal storage – plus 65GB of free cloud storage (Google Drive).
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean runs the device, although the company has guaranteed an update to Android 4.4 KitKat, by the end of January 2014.
O2 has been in touch, to inform us that the 8GB version will be available to buy from Wednesday 28th November – on Pay & Go for £129.99.
Customers who top up £10 a month get 75 minutes, 500 texts, 250MB data and 5 per cent of their top ups back, when they first take out Pay & Go Go Go.
After three months, this is doubled to 150 minutes, 1000 texts and 500MB data.
After six months, O2 doubles the amount customers get back on their top ups to 10 per cent, while customers who stay on Pay & Go Go Go get unlimited texts after nine months.
“With the Moto G, Motorola are definitely back with a bang,” said David Johnson, General Manager Devices for O2 in the UK.
“The quad-core power and high-end specifications of the Moto G is one of the best ways for first time buyers to experience everything Android has to offer, and at such an affordable price.”
The popular high-street retailer is now selling the 8GB and 16Gb model.
This will be on tariffs priced from £11 a month, and on pay as you go, for £119.95 – with a £10 topup.
It also sells the Motorola Moto G, SIM free and unlocked for £129.95, and £159.95.
The shop will be exclusively retailing the white ‘back’ case; if the phone is purchased between 6th and 13th December (on PAYG), a free £5 Google Play voucher is offered.
“There’s a huge amount of buzz at Phones 4u as we prepare to welcome Motorola’s new handset into our stores and online.”, commented Scott Hooton, Chief Commercial Officer at Phones 4u.
“It’s been an incredibly busy, exciting and innovative year for handset launches, and as the countdown to Christmas quickens we know appetite for new smartphones is high, and we expect the new Moto Gto be under a lot of trees this Christmas”.
Orange, T-Mobile and Tesco Mobile
Motorola has stated the Moto G will be available in the UK and Ireland from £134.95 SIM free with 8GB of storage, and from £159 SIM free, with 16GB.
This is along with being available through various carriers and retailers, which include Orange and T-Mobile, and Tesco Mobile.
Tesco Mobile is now carrying the Moto G, with no upfront cost – starting on a £12.50 contract.
That is accompanied with 250 minutes, a 5,000 text message bundle and a 500MB data allowance.
