Omio reported on this Android handset being quietly announced last week by HTC, after the company had listed it on its worldwide website.
It had previously been unveiled, but only for the Japanese market – with the moniker of J Butterfly. The USA network, Verizon, has said that it will be carrying it, but that version is called the Droid DNA.
The HTC Butterfly has a 5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 screen, made from Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It is driven by a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
There is also an 8-megapixel camera and a front-facing 2.1-MP variant, which has 1080p HD video recording and the handset also has Beats Audio integration.
Expansys hasn’t announced any priced for the mobile phone and has noted: “If you place a pre-order for this product now, we will not ship the product or charge your credit card without confirming you still wish to proceed when stock arrives. There are no cancellation charges.”
Stay tuned to Omio and we’ll bring you more details of the UK version of the phone, as and when it becomes public.
