3 UK Inks Deal With Spotify, To Debut On HTC Hero Before Xmas

3 UK has finally confirmed a deal with music streaming service Spotify, premiering on the Android-powered HTC Hero for a pre-Xmas launch.
The data-loving network will follow this up with a range of music-enabled 3 phones, with mobile phone deals aiming to be bundled with a premium subscription to the Spotify network.
With 3′s parent company Hutchison Wampoa heavily invested in Spotify and INQ’s CEO Frank Meehan on the board, the service was inevitably moving to their handsets where it will be pitched as an alternative to Nokia’s Comes With Music….which 3 themselves were the first to support.
By delivering Spotify as a pre-loaded package, 3 stands to broaden both the realm and demographic of streaming music beyond the desktop, in much the same as it has with Skype for phone calls.
With the fledgling company already attempting to turn the millions of fans into premium users with iPhone and Android mobile apps, Spotify shacking up with 3 UK is the perfect alliance of grabbing the attention of the masses with the impressive all-you-can-stream service, as well as getting folks to hammer data tariffs with all that tasty new music.
However, with alternatives like Sky Songs looking to steal some of that musical spotlight (and doing a good job according to Electric Pig), it won’t be long before the airwaves become a little crowded both in the home and on mobile phones…
