T-Mobile UK Selling Apple iPhone 3G To VIPs?

Early word from the Register is set to launch an Apple-shaped cat amongst the pigeons, if rumours that the iPhone 3G is now available on T-Mobile UK are to be believed…
Apparently in an effort to keep big spenders happy, T-Mobile is said to be offering existing customers the 3G model of Apple’s iPhone on a £75 per month tariff…if they threaten to defect to another network.
With word that the Apple’s previous model to the 3GS is coming to Orange and T-Mobile as soon as O2′s exclusivity ends in September, it comes as little surprise that they are offering extra special treatment to their valued customers, but where does that leave O2, who still have a month left on their Apple golden handcuffs?
Presumably pretty miffed…
This deal is certainly one you won’t see on offer at your local T-Mo emporium, as the Register claims that only 50 retention agents (limited to shifting three iPhones a week) are doling them out. This is obviously a move to keep Apple onside before the official relaxing of the exclusivity deal next month.
It is the old model, to a select few. How many noses could be put out of joint by that? If there is any truth to this story, we could find out pretty soon.
