Samsung B7610 Omnia PRO: WinMo QWERTY Slider Becomes Official

I want to say that Samsung are really churning out the handsets at the moment, but that does them a complete disservice with regards to their sheer quality of output.
The Pixon12 has arguably the most impressive specs of any camera phone to date, the i8510 HD was recently released as a multimedia powerhouse and now the new Samsung B7610 Omnia Pro is aimed squarely at business folks and text addicts alike.
Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 wrapped in a creamy TouchWiz interface, the Omnia Pro has both a 3.5″ AMOLED touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard. The camera is a 5 megapixel affair with autofocus and an LED flash, whilst all manner of connectivity is handled with Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth v2.1 and HSDPA/HSUPA.

If all these specs sounds familiar, it’s because the Omnia Pro seems targeted squarely at the handheld computer niche currently ruled by the Nokia N97. Despite having a fast CPU and dedicated graphics hardware, the Pro’s memory pales in comparison to Finland’s finest with only 2GB of on-board memory as opposed to the N97′s beefy 32GB. A microSD card slot makes for a fairer fight, and the ability to beef it up to handle WinMo 6.5 when that rolls around is a real boon.
With a July/August launch rumoured, those who want something similar to an N97 running in Ballmer-vision need look no further than the Omnia Pro.
