Phone projector high jinks

The battle for the phone projector crown continues.

Samsung flew someone out from South Korea to try and pre-empt Logic Wireless’ announcement. Samsung’s projector phone is available in Korea but not in the US. So they flew a handset over to the US for CES, so they could announce it at CES and steal a march on their competitors.

As this was such a last minute move, Samsung didn’t have time to really brief their PRs properly. When we asked the PRs about it, there were blank faces. Logic Wireless got an interview with CNN before the phone arrived, destroying Samsung’s exclusive. After the interview Samsung could no longer to be the first US carrier of a projector phone.

They did however let us take some pictures of their portable projector. It doesn’t have the capabilities of a mobile phone but it was a pretty smart media player.

Assim Saied, Chairman and Chief Executive of Logic Wireless, is the former owner of two software companies. He talked to CNN before us so they got the exclusive but like the Murphys we’re not bitter.

The technology’s clunky but it can be slimmed down and has the potential to be used into any sort of mobile device from iPhones to Xboxes. It has a touch screen too.

How very exciting; flying a phone all the way to South Korea. I wonder if it flew first class?
