Google Latitude ‘Stalking’ App Does Good, Brings Perps To Justice

Short story shorter…man steals woman’s bag, man jumps into getaway vehicle, phone in woman’s bag has location-based networking app Google Latitude installed, police catch both man and bag via real-time Latitude updates.
The best part of this tale isn’t that she got her bag back, or even the scary ramifications of Google Latitude being used for its true purpose of knowing where everyone on the planet is at any given moment to enslave us all somehow.
The best part is this brilliantly put-together news piece from CBS5. Note the reporter’s jaunty portrayal of the mugger’s route, the portion of the interview the victim was forced to recount events whilst inexplicably on the phone, and the carefully hacked soundbites they managed to extract from her.
“Me and my sisters use it to stalk each other.”
“Definitely get Google Latitude!”
A glowing endorsement, and we can all sleep soundly in the knowledge that Google Latitude is keeping us safe and on the grid.
